RE: Statement of international support
To whomever this may concern,
I would like to express my deep sorrow concerning the oppression currently being faced by the Shincheonji Church to humbly ask the Korean government to stop the oppression of both the HWPL and also the Shincheonji Church faction. Cases of human rights abuses, social and religious repression must be put to an end in order to commence more peaceful conversations.
Originally from London, UK, I study medicine in Brno, Czech Republic. After hearing from colleagues at IPYG about the current oppression unfolding in South Korea, I, on behalf of the international medical students in Brno and indeed the Czech Republic, have chosen to add my voice to the growing number of voices advocating for peace.
HWPL have always advocated for peace and sustainability particularly amongst the younger generations who will inherit the burdens of achieving global and sustainable peace. The volunteers at HWPL have been working tirelessly in their mission to be a collective voice, which is both representative and inclusive.
This letter is a mark of international support for HWPL and has been written to express our willingness to defend our community and our causes despite coming from different backgrounds. We would like to humbly ask the government to reconsider and revoke their decisions regarding this matter.
With all the respect and support to the Korean government and to HWPL, we would like to express our hopes for you to work together instead of living in such conflict and misunderstanding.
